Rarey’s book recently won the 2024 Charles Rufus Morey Book Award from the College Art Association, as well as the Arnold Rubin Outstanding Publication Award from the Arts Council of the African Studies Association. It was also one of three finalists for the 2024 Outstanding First Book Prize from the Association for the Study of the Worldwide African Diaspora.
