Letterpress Printing Winter Term Course

Letterpress Printing Winter Term Course

WT applications will be open from September 14th to November 18th.
Intensive, experience-based instruction for students in the operation of two types of hand-operated presses, moveable type and linocuts. Under the guidance of experienced printers, students will design and print projects of their own, as well as contributing to a creative group project. The project will be  defined once the enrollment is known. Some binding instruction will be included. Students will become familiar with the processes, problems, and artistic advantages of relief printing. This project fulfills the practicum requirement for the Book Studies Minor.
Special Considerations:  We will operate 6-7 hours per day with an expected duration of three weeks. Some could experience the days as physically demanding. Printing also requires planning, attention to fine detail, and employs the use of inks and solvent, so students should reckon with those facts before requesting admittance.
This meets at the Letterpress Studio (Mudd 212)
